Create Fabric Button Earrings

So if you've seen these around and never looked at a tutorial for them, you'll smack yourself by how easy (& pretty fun) to make. I love that you have the endless possibilities AND can use up fabric scraps that you just feel like you need to save (I have this problem as well). But it's very easy and an enjoyable project. Here's what you do....

You'll need a pair of pliers, fabric, earring posts and backs, scissors, and a cover button kit. I bought the button kits at Joann Fabric.

The cover button kit will come with a circle that you cut out and use as a template. I held mine tight with a safety pin since I didn't feel like digging out my straight pins.

Cut two.

Now, just follow the directions of the back of the kit. With fabric circle pattern down, place over the rubber thing and place the button on top. Then push down with the blue piece. (That's a horrible description, but once you have the three pieces in front of you, I think it should make sense? I hope so!)

Now, using the piers, pull the metal button back off the back piece. Pinch the bottom and wiggle it a bit, should pop off.

Taking your back piece, use that blue thing to push the button together. Make sure to get as much of the fabric under the back piece so it's tight and doesn't pop out from the button. Once you make a few, you'll get the hang out it. Promise.

Now you have two lovely buttons! Congrats! Use some hot glue and glue those earrings backs on and...

Now you have earrings!

See, I told you it was easy! Think about all the pairs of earrings you can make and all those scraps you can use up! I'm pretty excited about it, as you can see.
